At MadToLive, our mission is to empower the organ transplant community with faith-inspired apparel. Our vision is to honor the pride and strength of organ transplant survivors and those on the journey alongside them.
In 2004, a routine checkup led to a life-changing discovery— I had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a condition that made it increasingly difficult for my heart to pump blood. As my heart thickened, I transitioned from pediatric care to Stanford cardiology, where I was faced with the unimaginable: the need for a heart transplant.
At first, I carried on as if nothing was wrong, believing this was something doctors could fix. But as my condition worsened, simple tasks like climbing stairs felt like running miles. Monthly hospital stays became my new reality, and I was placed on the transplant list. I had to let go of school, work, and much of the life I knew.
One night, during my nightly conversations with God— I struggled with the weight of asking for a new heart. I willingly surrendered. If I was meant to receive a heart, I trusted I would. And if not, I found peace in knowing He would be with me in the end.
Three months later, after countless prayers from family, friends, and myself, a nurse woke me in the hospital with life-changing news: they had a heart for me.
I believe I am here today because of faith, prayer, and divine intervention. My journey has been one of surrender, strength, and faith, and through MadToLive, I hope to share that message with others.
